Are you ready for some football? What bigger event is there besides a Green Bay Packer game in Wisconsin? The Packers ended their 2016 season losing to the Super Bowl runner ups, the Falcons. This year the Packers are healthy and have added a couple TE's for our boy Aaron Rodgers to throw the ball to. Our prediction for the year is that the Packers go 13-3 and once again represent the NFC in the Super Bowl.
Join the Eastside BID and North Avenue bars for their best event of the year, the Tomato Romp. Inspired by the La Tomatina Tomato Fight in Spain. 8,000 pounds of rotten tomatoes are dumped into a pit with proceeds going to the RIverwest Food pantry. If you don't want to get dirty and enjoy bloody marys then sign up for the Absolut Vodka Best Bloody Mary challenge where you sample bloody marys at local North Avenue bars. We will be hanging out at Vituccis so join us there for a Bloody Mary!

Milwaukee Film Festival - Milwaukee wi
SEPTEMBER 28th - OCTOBER 12th
Since moving back to Milwaukee from Los Angles I have felt like Milwaukee misses a beat when it comes to film culture around the city. The Milwaukee Film Festival is a yearly event that tries to help bridge that gap every year. Their kick off party is the closest Milwaukee event to a red carpet affair. Their website mission is "To entertain, educate, and engage our community through cinematic experiences."
Brats, Polka Music and Bier! Join us for the 8th Annual Milwaukee Oktoberfest kicking off on Friday September 29th at 5pm. We will have FREE BEER until it is gone with live music by the Jeff Winard Band and the Chardon Polka Band. The event features Stein Hoisting, Miss Oktoberfest competition, Wiener Dog Show and Milwaukee's Largest Cornhole or Bags Tournament! Come enjoy beverages supplied by the Milwaukee County Parks and Sprecher/Spaten Beers and food by Milwaukee Brat House. VIP Tickets are available.
Who is looking for some deep fried goodness in their life? The Wisconsin State Fair is bringing over 70 NEW FOODS to this year's event! Try weird new foods like Apple Pie Nachos, Beer Battered Bacon Wrapped Sausage on a Stick and more! Music acts for the fair include: John Cougar Mellencamp, the Beach Boys, Kip Moore, Alan Jackson, and the one and only Vanilla Ice. This year the fair is bringing in the Nation's largest traveling Ferris wheel, the Wonderwheel presented by Meijer! It features 36 fully enclosed, brightly colored gondolas. Each gondola has a capacity of six people, and one gondola offers accessible seating. The 400,000 lb. ride, standing 15 stories high and featuring 528,000 vibrant LED lights, offers a breathtaking view of the city, with visibility of 10 miles or more from the top of the wheel. Wisconsin State Fair is one of only three fairs at which the ride will be featured in 2017.
Pull out that green Shamrock Shuffle T-Shirt or any other Irish shirt and head to the Summerfest grounds for Milwaukee Irish Fest produced by CelticMKE. Tickets are $20 to get in or you can get a two day pass for $30. The event features 100 Irish acts on 17 stages over the weekend and boasts to be the World's Premier Irish Festival. Check out the Jameson Lounge on site!
Pull out your hidden Cuban cigars and fedora (probably the only time it will be cool to wear it) and head to the Havana inspired MAM After Dark. The event is 7-11pm and includes music from DJ Natasha Jewels and Quizmaster trivia begins at 9:30pm. Avoid the lines with a VIP experience, which includes Tacos from Matador Taco and Tequila Bar. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door.
Mexican Fiesta takes over the Summerfest grounds at the end of the month. 3 days of Mariachi music, Mexican and Latin American food and of course Margaritas. Mexican Fiesta concentrates on providing education and scholarships for the growing Hispanic community in Milwaukee. Tickets for the event are only $14.
Ricky, Julian, Bubbles, Randy & Mr. Lahey take over the Riverside for a hilarious evening you will never forget! Expect a lot of cat jokes, rum and cokes and hopefully an appearance from Conky. If you have never seen an episode of Trailer Park boys, please check them out. There are 11 seasons worth of greatness!
Where is the year going? Its already July and time to celebrate America. Here is a list of the top 5 events happening in Milwaukee next month that aren't Summerfest because you are all aware of that.
Newaukee Night market
WednesdaY, July 12th
This is the second NEWaukee Night Market of the year. The event takes place between 2nd and 4th Street on Wisconsin Avenue in downtown Milwaukee and features many local food, art and drink vendors. The NEWaukee website describes the market: "The Night Market features a mash up of art, craft and food vendors, live art creation, local music and a beer garden with a goal to create a free, vibrant, safe and interactive place in downtown Milwaukee for people to experience culture at night."
So head down, grab the first beer you see to quench your thirst as you walk around and enjoy the local vendors.
Who wants to Storm the Bastille with me on Thursday July 13th? This is the kickoff mini event for Bastille Days, which features 5,000 runners amongst the streets of downtown Milwaukee. Bastille Days is produced by the East Town Association and is one of the largest French themed celebration in the nation. The event takes place inside and around the streets of Cathedral Square Park and features live music, wine, great food and the signature 43 foot Eiffel Tower replica.
THE EAGLES ARE COMING!!! Actually its the world famous Blue Angels but I couldn't resist a LOTR joke. The Navy's Blue Angel team is one of the best air acts in the country flying at speeds of 700mph and get as close as 18 inches to one another in the air. The event is free and happens along Milwaukee's Lakefront. Along with great acts in the air and sea there are also a ton of local food vendors so you can enjoy a delicious bratwurst or a coffee as these planes buzz the downtown towers. (Top Gun)
Do you love cream puffs? No one can say no to that question. If you would like to be the first person that you know to eat a cream puff in 2017 prior to the fair then your chance is at the 2nd Annual Cream Puff 5k. No you don't have to run an entire 5k but you can walk it or you can walk the 1k route taking you directly to the food and beer.
Registration includes a Cream puff, 2017 WI State Fair Ticket, T-Shirt, Finishers Ribbon, post race beverage and a post race concert by the LoveMonkeys!
This is our favorite street festivals or block parties of the year. The Brady Street BID produces the event and from my knowledge the festival dates back to at least the 1960s. The festival includes all of Milwaukee's favorite street vendors along with 4 stages of live music and an amazing Fashion Drag show. We hope that this is still happening as it was hosted by Bosely on Brady, which is now closed.
It is May in Milwaukee! That means that snow is behind us, we have already been teased with some nice 70 degree weather, and events are getting into full swing. May is really a warm up month for June with both events and weather. Here is a list from Swarmm Events of 5 events to not miss this May!
Cinco De Mayo
Friday, May 5
Attention Taco lovers. Cinco de Mayo exists to commemorate Mexico's victory over the French during the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
Each of these places offers a little bit different experience and all have great tacos!
Saturday, May 6
Looking to throw on that obnoxiously big hat or bowtie? The Kentucky Derby is the longest running sporting event in the United States, dating back to 1875. There are various places to watch the Kentucky Derby with the obvious choice being Potawatomi Casino so you can throw down some bets.
Our favorite spots include the "Talk Derby to Me" party at the Iron Horse Hotel featuring music by the Whiskeybelles and $35 bottomless Mint Juleps, the 10th Annual Derby Day Party at Maxies with a $15 entry that goes entirely to helping the Hunger Task Force and includes live jazz music and drink specials and lastly the private club, the Milwaukee Athletic Club throws quite the derby party as well.
Enjoy those mint juleps everyone!
CONCERTS & MOTHER'S DAY
Friday, May 12 - Sunday, May 14th
Usually we would give this weekend solely to our mothers, but there are so many great concerts in Milwaukee this weekend that we decided to highlight them here.
What a lineup! Don't forget your mothers though! Here are are 3 of our favorite brunch restaurants to take your mother to in downtown Milwaukee. The food is always fantastic at Wolf Peach tucked into Brewers Hill. The Knick never disappoints with an easy walk to the art museum before or after brunch. If you find yourself more in the downtown area then check out the hot spot Brunch with their creative dishes, cold brew coffee, and fun alarm clocks on their walls.
Sunday, May 21st - Franklin, WI
This event is not in Milwaukee but we couldn't resist giving an event shout out to one of the cutest and funniest dog breeds in the world.
Titled as "the Largest Pug Event in North America", Pug Fest at the Milwaukee Sports Complex in Franklin is an event to not miss if you have a pug or are obsessed with pugs like our graphic designer, Kelsey Lawson.
It's the question that goes through everyone's mind during the last week of October. The time of the year where we all scramble our friends together, plan out an award-winning costume (or struggle to pull something together last minute, let's be real), and head downtown to celebrate Halloween! Whether you are looking for the best place to dance, who has the best costume contest, or where the best drink specials are, we've put together an official "Halloween in Milwaukee" guide to help you make a decision this year!
